If you have been looking for a reason to get outside this spring, we just gave you six of them! Baby Animals & Blooms is back at Maris Farms in Buckley, WA, and this year we are pulling out all the stops. We are talking baby animals, tulip fields, themed weekends, Gene’s birthday, and two brand new additions to the farm. Here is everything you need to plan your visit!

Baby Animals & Blooms runs on select weekends this spring. Here are your dates:

  • Weekend 1: Friday April 25 & Saturday April 26
  • Weekend 2: Friday May 2 & Saturday May 3
  • Weekend 3: Friday May 9 & Saturday May 10 (Mother’s Day Weekend!

Hours: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM all days

Maris Farms is located in Buckley, WA — about 45 minutes southeast of Seattle and 30 minutes from Tacoma. Easy to find, worth every mile.

What’s Happening at the Farm

Every weekend is packed. Here is what you will find when you walk through the gates:

Baby Animals

This is the main event. Spring babies are here and they are ready to meet you. Expect the kind of up-close animal encounters that make kids absolutely lose their minds in the best possible way. Bring your camera.

Mini Tulip Photo Sessions

Golden hour in a tulip field is as magical as it sounds. We are offering mini photo sessions right in the blooms this year. Whether you are booking a family session, a couples shoot, or just want to capture the moment for yourself, the tulip field is ready for you.

Gene’s Birthday Celebration

Gene, our beloved Holstein steer and certified internet celebrity, turns another year older this season. We are celebrating all three weekends. If your kids have been following Gene or have written him a letter through the Letters to Gene program, this is your chance to meet the guy in person.

Apple Blasters

A Maris Farms classic. Guests of all ages line up every year for this one. Trust us, it never gets old.

Animal Adoptions

We are partnering with two incredible local rescue organizations this season:

  • Caring Hearts for Paws — on site April 25, May 9 & May 10, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Adoptable animals will be on the farm and looking for their forever homes.
  • Sunny Sky’s Rescue — joining us May 3 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

Makers Market

Local makers and vendors set up shop on the farm. Great for finding something handmade and supporting small businesses while you enjoy the day.

Cowpie Bingo

It is exactly what it sounds like, and it is absolutely a highlight every year. Come see what the fuss is about.

Fishing

A relaxing activity for those who want a quieter corner of the farm to explore.

Build a Buddy + Donuts

Brand new this year. Build a Buddy is our brand new stuffed animal experience in the gift shop, and yes, we now have donuts. Both are available on the farm during event hours. You are welcome.

Field Trips, Group Events & More

Bringing a school group, a birthday party, or a big family crew? We have options. Reach out through the website to talk through group booking.

Themed Weekends

Each weekend has its own theme, which means three totally different vibes across the season. Dress up, play along, or just come as you are.

  • Weekend 1 (April 25 & 26): Princesses & Pirates — crowns, swords, and tulips. The ultimate combo.
  • Weekend 2 (May 2 & 3): Superheroes — capes welcome, costumes encouraged, baby animals mandatory.
  • Weekend 3 (May 9 & 10): All Things Mom — our Mother’s Day weekend. Tulip sessions, Mothers Day Brunch, golden hour magic. The perfect way to celebrate the moms in your life.

Plan Your Visit

What to Wear

Layers are your best friend in the Pacific Northwest in spring. Wear shoes you do not mind getting a little muddy. For the tulip photo session, think soft colors — blush, sage, cream, and lavender photograph beautifully in the fields. Avoid busy patterns if you are going for that clean golden hour shot.

What to Bring

  • Camera or phone charged and ready
  • Layers for cool mornings — it warms up by midday
  • Kids’ excitement levels set to maximum
  • A bag for anything you pick up at the Makers Market
