Hil-PIG-er! Hil-PIG-er! Hil-PIG-er!
Hottest hog on the planet continues his dominance and history-making run with a Triple Crown, TPC season series title and consecutive wins record
Tommy HilPIGer is now looked at as THE best of all time. Second to none in consecutive wins, most wins in a Triple PIG Crown season and total dominance throughout a season. The humble hog, who races for the Movers & Shakers SWINE (presented by Westside Pizza) is also the first Triple Crown winner since 2012 and has won 19 races out of 24 after taking five of six this past weekend, including the third jewel of the TPC series, the BOARmont Stakes.
With his 12th straight victory to end racing on Sunday and another victory in the second jewel of the Triple PIG Crown series – The SQUEAKness – HilPIGer has positioned himself to become the all-time winningest thoroughHOG to ever compete in the TPC series (presented by Wally’s Drive In).
Should HilPIGer capture the morning qualifier race on Saturday and then earn a victory in the BOARmont Stakes (2 pm, PDT) as well as the final race at 4 pm, he will have not only become the first Triple Crown winner since Arnold SchwartzenHOGger did it in 2012, he will surpass the longest winning streak in TPC series history (14 by SchwartzenHOGger in 2012).
“I’m going to remain as humble and focused a hog as possible over this next weekend,” HilPIGer (of the Movers & Shakers SWINE, Westside Pizza) told a post-race press gathering on Sunday afternoon. “I’m not really one for hogging the spotlight, and I know what’s happening is pretty special. But I can’t think about any of that until I’ve completed my mission: a TPC series title.”
The sleek, all-black racing hog has taken the pig-racing world by storm, and even his fellow racing colleagues can’t say enough.
“Hard-nosed, focused, he’s got a motor,” said Jimmy FalLOIN (of the Talking Head HOGS, Dillanos Coffee Roasters), who finished second to HilPIGer in the SQUEAKness. “I don’t think there’s much of doubt, unless Fastest 15 (of the Bonneville BOARS, Blazing Bagels) or LetterHAM (Talking Head HOGS, Dillanos Coffee Roasters) get hot and he cools waaaaaaayyyyy down. I just don’t see that happening.”
Longtime race announcer and self-proclaimed PIG Whisperer Dennis Riley has seen EVERY pig race at PIGlico Downs/Maris Farms since the TPC series started 13 years ago. He says what we’re witnessing in HilPIGer is unprecedented.
“No hog has been this dominant since maybe SchwartzenHOGger back in ’12,” Riley recalled. “But even Schwartzy was challenged throughout that season with a couple of tough races. With HilPIGer, it’s almost like he was designed for greatness.”
Again, as he was last week, HilPIGer will be the favorite heading into this weekend’s third and final marquee race.
“I’m not changing my routine. I’m not changing my outlook or approach. I’m just going to treat each race exactly the same,” HilPIGer said. “Snout down, ears pinned back, feet moving.”
For the BOARmont Stakes (third jewel of the Triple PIG Crown series), $73 was raised for Seattle Children’s Hospital through the “bets” that race fans placed (in the form of a donation) and 89 bets were placed on the race. A total of $245 was raised and 312 bets placed for the weekend. Every dollar donated is matched by Northwest Motorsports, so it was actually $490 for the weekend. HilPIGer collected the most bets placed on a hog at 72. Fastest 15 had 40 and FalLOIN had 38.
Total number of dollars raised through the first FOUR weekends is $3,146 (includes matching dollars from NWMS) and total number of bets placed is 1,705.

PIGTUCKY DERBY PLAY BY PLAY: All 4 hogs (Fastest 15, FalLOIN, HilPIGer and LetterHAM) came out of the gates very slow and bunched together. LetterHAM jumped out to a 3-snout length lead around turn one and through turn two, but then stopped; the rest of the group caught up and FalLOIN took a slight lead through turn three. As they approached the fourth turn to the backstretch, HilPIGer started making his move down behind by almost 4-snout lengths and by middle of the backstretch had caught FalLOIN. As HilPIGer approached the final turn, he had opened up a 4-snout length lead. He cruised to the victory with LetterHAM next 3-snouts behind, FalLOIN right on LetterHAM’s tail and Fastest 15 about 5-snout lengths later.
FINAL QUALIFIER SCENARIOS: There will be one final qualifying race on Saturday at noon to fill the last open spot for The SQUEAKness (2 pm, Saturday). if FalLOIN wins and Know It All loses, then FalLOIN is in; if Know It All wins and FalLOIN loses, then Know It All is in; if both win, then FalLOIN earns the spot because by virtue of being the last hog of the two to win previously; if both FalLOIN and Know It All lose and EinSWINE happens to win, EinSWINE is in by virtue of the most recent one to win of the three.
TWO MORE ON THE BOARD: The Go-2-PIG (Bonneville BOARS) and ConHAM O’Brien (Talking Head HOGS) both collected their first wins this past weekend. Only E-LOIN Musk (Movers & Shakers SWINE) and ElLOIN DeGeneres (Talking Head HOGS) still remain winless through the first two weekends.
TOTALS ($ raised, bets placed) THROUGH 2 WEEKENDS: Total number of dollars raised through the first two weekends is $1,278 (includes matching dollars from NWMS) and total number of bets placed is 641.
